The Beagle has a keen sense of smell and a strong hunting instinct. This member of the American Kennel Club’s hound group actually comes in two sizes, under thirteen inches and thirteen to fifteen inches. Except for the difference in size, both Beagle varieties are identical. The beagle has dark eyes, droopy ears, and a long tail. Its coat is short and most commonly comes in a combination of tan, black and white colors. You can also find orange, black, or tan dogs with white markings.
Many people assume that dogs are carnivores and are unable to eat anything other than meat. This is a preposterous idea. Dogs love anything they can get their greedy paws on, even fruit. By changing their diet to fresh, healthy food you will notice the difference very quickly. I normally buy my dog fresh chicken or turkey and cook it myself in the oven. I also give him fresh vegetables like carrots and potatoes, fish sometimes and eggs. You have to be very careful to take out each and every bone and not to give him too much. Recently I did a bit of math and realized that annually I paid less by giving him fresh food than I would have if I had bought some of the more expensive kinds of ‘pet food’.
Get your dog its own toothbrush and toothpaste. You can usually buy them at your local pet store. It is not required that you brush its teeth after every meal. Once a day is enough. Do this regularly to prevent any plaque and to keep its breath fresh and smelling good.
