There are literally hundreds of different breeds of dog that a person can choose to have as a pet, but the Pug can easily be considered as one of the most popular. This really comes as no surprise, considering how friendly, loving and adorable these dogs are. Pug training is very important however, and because Pugs are rather stubborn dogs this is often difficult to do. There are a few other Pug problems that you should be aware of as well.
Successful training with a Pug depends a lot on how much the dog desires for his master’s approval. Obviously the closer the owner is with the dog and the better they treat him, the more the dog is going to strive to do well. Pugs are very smart dogs and can usually be trained with a little persistence and patience, and so training can be relatively easy as long as the owner has patience and is willing to put in the time and effort that is going to be required.
The Pug is certainly a wonderful breed of dog but Pug training can be quite difficult at times. There are a few Pug problems in particular that Pug owners should be aware of when they are starting to train their dog. For one, a Pug owner should never allow their puppy to do something that they would not want them doing as an adult. This is important because if the puppy thinks that certain things are allowed while they are young, they will carry these behavior patterns into adulthood.
It is also essential that the owner make the dog learn who is in charge, and who the dominant one in the household is. Using consistency and being repetitive is going to be necessary to make sure that the dog is understanding what he is being taught and not only that but remembering it. Sometimes missing even a single day of training will make the dog forget everything he has already been taught and he will have to start back at the beginning.
There are many tips that owners should keep in mind when it comes to correcting Pug problems, but more than anything owners should keep in mind that praising their puppy is going to be one of the best things they can do while training them. Remember that dogs can sense when their owner is being fake and so it is important that they do it with all their heart.
By being upbeat and excited for the dog while training them, they will not only focus more and will be more into the training, but also will make the training fun and exciting for both parties involved. It is important to not only praise them verbally but physically as well. Rather than just telling the dog that they are doing well, pat them on the head as well, because they respond to this. Remember that you can overcome Pug problems as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort that will be required of you.
There are professionals available who will take care of the Pug training for the owner but this is time that could be being spent with and bonding with the dog and owners should take advantage of this. There are many great resources that can be used to help an owner with Pug training, but Dog training books are definitely one of the best options here.
