Train your dog the right way

July 1st, 2010

You may get started training your puppy as early as 8 weeks old. He/She will likely not react positively quickly, but you will be setting up a corner stone for your pet’s education at an early age.

It’s vital to understand that the extent of dog training, housebreaking and guidance required will largely be based on your dog. Some breeds are really smart and might learn readily depending on your puppy training strategies. If your pet does not react positively as promptly as you believe it should, merely spend increased time working with him/her and you’ll have a fully-trained puppy in no time.

Notice your puppy in assorted conditions and you are sure to rapidly understand what he likes and does not like or how he’s feeling. You may then take measures to grant him more of what he likes and more reinforcement, confidence and training in circumstances he finds more troublesome.  Dogs are intelligent animals and they learn from experience.

Whenever you attempt obedience training with your dog, make certain that you have his/her best-loved treats on hand to aid as a reward. In addition, puppy training must be approached at a juncture that is calm for both you and your puppy. If he/she is distraught about something, it is not likely the training plan will be rewarding. Preferably, your dog should be calmed and ready to focus on the training work at hand.

At no time display physical punishment as a manner of puppy training. This can always result in your dog being afraid or nervous when you are close-by. Rather, reward positive actions and ignore them if they fail to respond on command. Case in point, if you direct your dog to “sit”, calmly push down on his/her backside and repeat the instruction. When your puppy is sitting, reward him/her with a treat and compliments. If your pet refuses to sit, walk away and give a try again in a few minutes. Training takes time and understanding, but should not ever include your dog behaving terrified of you.  If you have been training longer than 15 minutes cease and take a break.

you’re certainly not training horses, so enjoy yourself and have a ball with your shortly to be best friend.
